Ahhhhh - Time to Relax

Okay - so as you can see it's been quite a while since my last post. As warned, our September has been a crazy month that turned out to be even crazier than expected!

Our time with the Kosciulek's was great. It was so nice to spend some real time with them, talking, laughing, remembering the good ol' days, and letting our kids play together. We had not seen them since last year when we met them in Aspen, CO over Labor Day...and it was long overdue. To think next year there will be yet another member joining the group...we can't wait to meet you "John Jr. Jr."!!!

After they headed off back home, I noticed Landon wasn't himself and seemed to be under the weather. I decided to load him up and take him to the Dr. for what I was sure would be an ear infection. Nope - the Dr. that was able to see him said all was clear and to get ready for teething (which I already knew)...so no news is "good news" - but we still had a tired, fussy little one on our hands to comfort and make feel better.

With the news that Landon was okay - we headed down to my Mom's on the 5th for an early birthday celebration. Andrew & Diva got to run outside and play with all sorts of treasures at Mimi's. Diva & Maci (my Mom's Sheltie) got along much better this trip. Cory fixed some things around the house for Mom and we took Mom to dinner to ring in another year. The 2nd most frustrating thing about our trip was that we tried to surprise Mom with an ice cream birthday cake from the good ol' DQ (notice I said tried) the one lady that makes the cake "just didn't get around to making it". This is after we had called it in and everything...the incompetence is something I will never quite understand. The MOST frustrating thing about our trip are these bugs that the locals call "Love Bugs". That is because these bugs travel in 2's and seem to stick together...and everything else they come in contact with. There wasn't just a couple here and there...they were EVERYWHERE! In fact, on our way to Mom's house it sounded like it was raining because there were so many hitting the windows of our car. They don't bite or sting - they are these annoying creatures that hover around you and land wherever their little hearts desire. I had never seen anything like it in my life.

After our return home, we noticed that Landon wasn't getting better. He had a really rough night on Monday - which prompted me to get him back into the Dr. on Tuesday. This time we saw our "real" Dr. and whenever he's involved I know we are in great hands. Landon did not get a clean bill of health this time around. He had horribly infected ears and they took him in to get a chest x-ray. The x-ray showed that he had a mild pneumonia with asthma and they put him on antibiotics.

Becky & Jeff came in for a short, surprise visit on Tuesday too! It was great to see them...but I felt horrible because while they were here Andrew & I got really sick too. Andrew, Landon, & I were miserable and all of us were on antibiotics. We weren't the best hosts this go around...but we'll make it up to you guys - I promise! It was just great to see you and spend some time with you - gosh I wish we lived closer!

After Beck & Jeff were on their way to California...Mom & Maci were on their way up to our house to escape the wrath of Hurricane Ike. With Beck's help - we were able to convince (beg) her to come up to our house to safety. Hurricane Ike was on his way and he didn't look happy. Mom stayed for several days - to insure her safety and make sure her home was safe to go back to. (Mom was extremely lucky as she had some limbs down, and some damage to her fence...but no flooding or structural damage to her house. Whew!) It was also a blessing she was here when she was, because she was able to help me with the kiddos. We desperately needed her with all of us being sick and Cory heading out of town. (Cory had his trip to Florida planned for several weeks. He got to go watch the KU vs. UCF game and got a weekend full of golf with his buddies. He had a great time, and I'm glad he got some down time to enjoy with his friends.)

I took Landon back for his 6 month check-up and a re-check for his pneumonia. He is growing like a weed and now weighs in at 18 lbs. 14 oz.! He is growing so fast! His Dr. wasn't happy with his progress in regards to his pneumonia...so he got stronger meds which took care of everything in 5 days. Unfortunately for Landon I still have to take him back in a week or 2 to get his immunizations.

Then Cory's mom came to visit us for a few days. We had a good time with Grandma Aubuchon and enjoyed some time outside with her and some fun activities inside as well.

So here's another snapshot of our month...

The Kosciulek's came to visit us over labor day weekend. (8/28 - 9/1)
We went down to my Mom's to celebrate her birthday (9/5 - 9/7)
Becky & Jeff made a quick trip in to visit (9/9 - 9/11)
Cory goes to Florida for golf & to see the KU vs. UCF Football game (9/12 - 9/14)
Hurricane Ike forces my Mom to evacuate to our house (9/11 - 9/16)
Cory's Mom came to visit (9/17 - 9/21)
...and in the middle of everything I had to take Landon to the Dr. 3 times in 3 weeks, Andrew & I got horribly sick, and Landon's first 2 teeth just popped through! Did I mention we are also redoing both of our bathrooms in the middle of this too?

Thanks to everyone for taking your time to come & visit us. We had a great time visiting with you and spending time with you....but...needless to say, I am thrilled that it's all over and that October looks much less crazy for us. That gives me a month to recover before November hits and the craziness starts all over with 3 of our b-days, Thanksgiving, and preparing for Christmas. YIKES!
